Angie’s List Launches ‘The Big Deal’: Group Coupons with a Twist
By Angie's List Staff
Angie’s List, the nation’s premier provider of consumer reviews on local doctors and service providers, has jumped into group couponing with ‘The Big Deal’.

“Everyone loves a bargain and we knew we could add a unique value to the group coupon concept,” said Angie Hicks, founder of Angie’s List.

“We’ve actually been doing this for 15 years. What’s different now is how these coupons are presented,” she said. “The Big Deal coupons offer incredible savings and like our traditional coupons, they’ll be offered only by companies that have first earned great grades from Angie’s List members. So you’re not getting just a great price – you’re getting quality service, too.”

The Big Deal has been offered on a test basis in Indianapolis, Chicago and Washington D.C. for the past month.  Those offers – two of which are active until 5 p.m. today – include:
  • 50 percent off a facial from a Chicago salon – Details at http://bit.ly/cIv2MU
  • 55 percent off carpet cleaning in Indianapolis – Details at http://bit.ly/ctfnNg
  • 65 percent off from a Chicago painter
  • 58 percent off a massage in Washington D.C.
  • 80 percent off a dental exam from an Indianapolis dentist
“Our motto is ‘We screen; you save,’” Hicks said. “Unlike most of our services, we’re offering these Big Deals to non-members as well as members. Members save more, but the great savings from great companies are open to everyone.”

The Big Deal will be available in 25 cities this month and 50 by July.  Announcements of The Big Deal will be made through the Angie’s List Facebook and Twitter pages, as well as in e-mails to members and on the company’s website.

“We were thrilled by the quick success we found with our first offering, and we’re confident that demand from our highly rated service companies will keep this additional service line growing,” Hicks said.
